Program Cook and Delivery Lead

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Trained and experienced in cooking for groups of young children.
  • Ability to relate well to children and staff.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Meet required health standards; physical exams and produce negative Mantoux test.
  • Food Protection Manager Certificate (ServSafe) as required by the Massachusetts Food Establishment Regulations.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Background Record Check.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Assumes responsibility of the kitchen and operations in the absence of Lead Cook.
  • Plans and arranges all necessary components to prepare and serve fresh quality food in a timely manner to meet requirements of service with the Lead Cook.
  • Cooperates with Lead Cook in the kitchen to meet food accommodations while complying with Child Meal Patterns.
  • Cooperates with Lead Cook to maintain food safety procedures while cooking, holding, serving and storing food at proper temperatures.
  • Maintains proper health standards of all applicable State and local laws and regulations. This includes but not limited to washing and sanitizing dishes, work stations and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintains kitchen records as required
  • Assists Lead Cook in receiving food delivery. Using the FIFO method while storing food product.
  • Carries out other duties designated by Lead Cook/Center Director and/or Nutrition Outreach Coordinator.
  • Attends all required trainings.
  • Communicates with Lead Cook and other designated individuals’ pertinent information with regard to changes.
  • Maintains a sound, positive working relationship with parents, staff and other individuals in the center
  • Packages meals for delivery to other Square One programs/locations
  • Delivers meals to other Square One programs/locations
  • Performs other duties designated by Center Director and/or Nutrition Coordinator
  • Reports any problems or concerns immediately to Center Director and Nutrition Coordinator

To the Nutrition Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time 30 hours

Pay: $17.10 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work. (Required)
