QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Department of Early Education and Care Director I certification.
  • Obtain and maintain current certificate in Emergency First Aid and CPR within (3) months of employment.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Background Record Check as required
  • Complete new employee orientation

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three to five years of professional early childhood education teaching experience; preschool experience preferred
  • One to two years’ experience in early childhood administration and leadership.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Early Education and Care regulations and policies
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to child care issues of low-income, at risk children and families
  • Effective and strong classroom/time management skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead staff in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to create partnerships with families and staff
  • Knowledge of ECERS, NAEYC accreditation, TPOT, CLASS, ASQ and TSG
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Proficient on Microsoft office and ProCare
  • Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Section 51A you are a mandated reporter and held to the statutory reporting requirements.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direction of the center director supervise and coach staff on all aspects of classroom operation
  • Under direction of the center director mentor and train new teachers
  • Model developmentally appropriate interactions with children
  • Demonstrate and role model developmentally appropriate curriculum for all teachers
  • Develop positive and productive relationships with families
  • Support families in completion of the ASQ
  • Support director in implementation of family engagement activities
  • Maintain child files according to EEC regulations
  • Maintain organizational spreadsheets for data collection
  • Receive and log tuition payments
  • Assume responsibility of the program in absence of the center director
  • Maintain staff schedules and classroom coverage according EEC regulations
  • Support director in completing center intakes
  • All other duties as assigned
