Green and Clean

Who knew that making our own green cleaning products could be so much fun?! Our Square One families learned the health benefits to green cleaning and low cost ways to create their own products. We are thankful to Springfield Healthy Homes and the Pioneer Valley Asthma Coalition for collaborating with Square One to offer this experience to our families.

Bike to the Future

Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the Bike to the Future Motorcycle Ride benefitting Square One!

Learning to Give, Giving to Learn

For the second year in a row, our friend Jack paid us a visit following his birthday party. In lieu of birthday presents, Jack asks his friends to bring something to donate to a Square One family. THANK YOU, Jack, for setting wonderful example for others to follow. Your kindness is making a difference!

Celebrating Dad!

Our annual Father’s Day Picnic was a great success once again this year! Thank you to the staff, donors and families who came out to enjoy great food, games, face painting and lots of laughs. Thank you to all the Dads, Grand Dads, Step Dads, Foster Dads, and Dad figures in our lives!

How We Love Our Visitors!

Big thanks to all of our recent visitors!

Our very dear friends at Disability Management Services (DMS) and their families who recently spent the day with the children at our Main Street preschool classroom. We were also recently joined by Elias Acuna of Maria Acuna Real Estate, who took time out of his busy day to read to some of our preschoolers.

How fortunate Square One is to have such wonderful community supporters!

It’s Hip to Buy Squares

First there were dice. Then came Wendy’s hamburgers, followed by Rubik’s Cube and SpongeBob. Now, Bob Bolduc and his team at Pride Stores want to add Square One to the list of famous “squares.”

The locally owned chain of gas stations and convenience stores is launching a campaign where customers may purchase a “square” for one dollar, in support of the work Square One does with children and families throughout the region.

Hats Off to You!

Short of heading to Church Hill Downs, the Colony Club in Springfield was the place to go for the 2017 Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 6. Hundreds of guests wore their finest hats, floral patterns and pastels to celebrate the 143rd running of the annual race. The event has become a signature event for Square One – a regional non-profit organization serving at-risk children and families.

Congratulations, Dawn DiStefano

Congratulations to Square One’s Dawn DiStefano, who was recently named to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women to represent the Pioneer Valley.

A total of 18 members were named to the Hampden County Commission of the Status of Women and Girls and the Hampshire-Franklin Commission of the Status of Women and Girls.

Square One is proud to be joining Partners for Healthier Communities in the Springfield Healthy Homes Collaborative (SHHC) project.

State Advocacy

Our Square One Family Services Team joined Children's Trust on a mission to stop child abuse in Massachusetts. As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month we are working to help spread awareness about the issue and promote our effective programs to keep our children safe and healthy.

Thank you to Maryann McCarthy and Liz Szarkowski from our Healthy Families program for representing Square One in Boston.
