Dear friends,

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, our children are busy learning about the very first Thanksgiving celebrated by the Pilgrims and Indians. While there are many questions and theories about what actually transpired during that celebration and how the holiday became synonymous with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pie, this has become a wonderful time of year to reflect on all the reasons we have to be grateful.

I am privileged to surround myself with a dedicated team of talented, hard-working employees and volunteers who give selflessly of themselves to provide opportunities for the children and families who need us most.

I have the good fortune of being a part of a community of business leaders and individuals who share their own good fortunes by providing us with the funding necessary for us to outfit our classrooms with the proper tools and supplies; provide healthy meals each day; and offer programs and services to lead our families to economic stability.

All of these efforts are supported by our local, regional, and statewide elected officials who share our commitment to ensuring that all children and families have the opportunity to be successful at school, at work, and in life; and work tirelessly to ensure that our mission and needs stay on the forefront of our government agendas.

For all of these reasons, I offer my most heartfelt thanks and warm wishes to you and your families for a happy and healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Joan Kagan
